Marvel Studios has unveiled its 2023 movie slate, and it’s sure to excite fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The studio has announced four new films, all of which will be released in 2023.

The four films will be released in 2023, with Black Panther 2 set to hit theaters on May 6, Captain Marvel 2 on July 8, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on October 7, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on December 16.

Marvel Studios unveiled their 2023 movie slate during a live-streamed event featuring host and Marvel chief creative officer Kevin Feige. The slate includes seven films–three sequels to existing films, three brand-new characters, and one team up movie.
The first of the sequels is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, director Scott Derrickson’s sequel to the 2016 Doctor Strange movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch. The movie will follow Doctor Strange as he explores alternate realities and encounters all sorts of new foes.
The next sequel announced was Thor: Love and Thunder, to be directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tessa Thompson. This is a follow-up to the 2017 movie Thor: Ragnarok and will throw Thor into a universe-spanning battle between himself and the goddess of thunder, as played by Portman.
The third sequel is Captain Marvel 2, starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. The sequel will pick up where the first film left off, exploring the character’s past and her connection to the Skrulls.
The first brand-new character debuting in 2023 is Balck Panther II, starring Chadwick Boseman and directed by Ryan Coogler. The sequel is not based on a previous Marvel movie and will explore the Black Panther’s Wakandan kingdom and their place in global politics.
The second new character is the Asian-American superhero Shang-Chi, to be played by Simu Liu and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. This martial arts action movie will explore how Shang-Chi’s worldview and legacy shape his fight against a mysterious enemy.
