In 2018, Stormy Daniels became a household name. The adult film star and director, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, made headlines when she sued President Donald Trump over a nondisclosure agreement related to an alleged affair.
Daniels was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1979. She began her career as a stripper at the age of 17 and eventually moved into the adult film industry. She has appeared in over 150 films and has won numerous awards, including the AVN Award for Best New Starlet in 2000.
In 2006, Daniels met Donald Trump at a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. She claims that the two had an affair, which Trump denies. In 2016, shortly before the presidential election, Daniels was paid $130,000 by Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, in exchange for her silence about the alleged affair.
In 2018, Daniels filed a lawsuit against Trump, claiming that the nondisclosure agreement was invalid because Trump had never signed it. She also alleged that Cohen had acted as an unregistered agent of the Trump campaign when he paid her the hush money.
The lawsuit sparked a media frenzy and thrust Daniels into the spotlight. She appeared on numerous talk shows and was featured in a 60 Minutes interview. She also wrote a book about her experience, Full Disclosure, which was released in October 2018.
Daniels’ lawsuit was eventually dismissed, but she has continued to speak out against Trump and his administration. She has become a vocal advocate for women’s rights and has been an outspoken critic of the president.
Stormy Daniels is an example of a woman who refused to be silenced. Despite the odds, she stood up to the president and made her voice heard. Her story is a reminder that even in the face of adversity, one person can make a difference.
Stormy Daniels, the adult film star with a legal background, made headlines when she took on the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
On March 6th, 2018, Stephanie Clifford, better known by her stage name Stormy Daniels, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against the sitting President on the basis of the invalidity of a ‘hush agreement’ made in October 2016 between her and a company owned by Michael Cohen, the President’s former attorney.
In addition to the lawsuit, Daniels filed a separate motion requesting that the Court declare the Non-disclosure agreement void. She argued that the agreement was never valid because Donald Trump never actually signed it.
The matter was further complicated by Michael Cohen’s admission that he had used his own personal funds to pay Daniels $130,000 in what was a clear attempt to keep her quiet about a 2006 sexual encounter between her and the President.
Cohen plead guilty to eight counts of financial malfeasance, including the payment to Daniels. He also pleaded guilty to lying to Congress in regards to the $130,000 payment.
It has been widely speculated that the payment to Daniels may constitute an illegal campaign finance violation, since it was paid to silence her shortly before the 2016 presidential election.
A federal judge ruled in favor of Daniels in October 2018, awarding her attorneys’ fees in the amount of $293,000.
Although the President has been notably silent on the matter, his attorney’s recent filing to the judge alleges that by sharing information about the case, Daniels has violated the hush agreement more than twenty times and is now liable for approximately $20 million in damages.
While it is still unclear as to how it will all play out in the end, Stormy Daniels has made her mark in history by becoming the first adult film star to take on the President of the United States in a legal battle. This suit has already caused a major stir in politics and how the nation views the law, and will continue to do so for years to come.
