Walt Disney Company is proud to announce the upcoming adaptation of the Marvel Comics series, Secret Invasion. Set to debut on its streaming service, Disney+, the production of the television series based on the superhero comic was made official in December 2020.
The comic series centers on the story of a race of shape-shifting aliens known as the Skrulls, who have infiltrated Earth in an effort to take over the planet. It follows a group of superheroes, including Captain Marvel, Iron Man, and Spider-Man, as they battle the Skrulls.
The official announcement was made by Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios. He said that the project would be executive produced by him along with Marvel head of television, Jeph Loeb.
Feige also said that they are working hard to make sure the adaptation stays true to the original comic series. “Our number one goal is always to bring the best of Marvel storytelling to the page, television, and movie screens around the world,” he added.
Seeley, the writer of the original comic series, also expressed his excitement for the upcoming adaptation. “It’s an incredible honor to be a part of this project. I can’t wait to see what Marvel has in store for fans,” he said.
Disney+ announced that production of the series will begin in the coming months, and it is expected to premiere sometime in 2021.
